CONGRATULATIONS EMILY AND CATHERINE

Catherine Joseph and Emily McCallum have won the Women in Media Belfast ‘Women Workers’ young reporter competition, which was a collaboration with the James Connolly Centre, and sponsored by Unison NI, Éadach and Raidió Fáilte.

Unison regional secretary Patricia McKeown, and designer and artist Sara O’Neill, joined us on the judging panel.

Catherine and Emily, both pupils at Dominican College Fortwilliam, impressed judges with their entry about the importance of trade unions, and the inequalities faced by migrant women in the workplace, including racism, discrimination and barriers to career progression.

The E&C NEWS girls were presented with their prizes, including £500 from Unison, at a ceremony in the James Connolly Centre.
