Most of our evening will be enjoying a drink and catching up with friends and colleagues. It has been a busy year. We deserve it! Drop in for one or stay for the whole evening…

During the event you’ll hear from Radio Academy chair Peter McVerry, and at around 6.30pm WIMB’s Amanda Ferguson will steer a conversation with some media women below on a variety of themes, while you’re enjoying some finger food with a Jaxbox Gin Perfect Swerve, McConnell’s Irish Whisky Dunbar Street Sour, or soft drink. In the meantime…

MEET THE JOURNALISTS

CAOIMHE QUINN

Caoimhe Quinn (33) from Belfast is a broadcast journalist at U105. She has an undergraduate degree in media studies and production from Ulster University, Coleraine, and in 2014 completed an MA in Journalism, also at UU. Caoimhe also has print media experience including with the Ballymoney Chronicle and Andersonstown News. She is keen to highlight that postgraduate education should be a viable option for people from working class families, and the importance of ensuring women have opportunities to succeed and thrive as journalists.

NIAMH CAMPBELL

Niamh Campbell (29) from Killeeshil, Co Tyrone, is a reporter with the Belfast Telegraph covering breaking news, sport, politics and more. She has an undergraduate degree in English Linguistics & Literature from Queen’s University Belfast, but says she found her true calling when she studied journalism at Ulster University. She is particularly interested in covering mental health issues, social injustices, and stories about women in sport (plus anything to do with Liverpool FC or Tyrone GAA).

CLAUDIA SAVAGE

Claudia Savage (23) from Coalisland, Co Tyrone, is a reporter with PA Media. She graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2022 with a degree in politics, philosophy and economics, before completing a fast-track NCTJ diploma in Manchester in 2023, and then moving home. One of Claudia’s career highlights to date is meeting Nicky Byrne from Westlife. She also makes entertaining and informative clips for TikTok (@claudiasavage8) and Instagram (@claudiasavagejourno).

CLAIRE DICKSON

Claire Dickson (20) from Banbridge, Co Down, is a third year politics student at Queen’s University Belfast. She is head of the current affairs output at Queen’s Radio ‘The Scoop’. Claire is interested in politics, gender equality, and student issues.

SOPHIE CLARKE

Sophie Clarke (22) is a freelance journalist from Templepatrick, Co, Antrim. She recently completed a Masters degree in Journalism at Ulster University and is awaiting her final results. Prior to embarking on a journalism career Sophie obtained a first class honours law degree in 2022. Since September Sophie has had work published in The Scoop, Belfast Live, The Belfast Telegraph, and completed a six week placement writing for The Irish News. She enjoys human interest stories, and likes to focus on issues which affect young people.

And, returning to the WIMB hosting team is Justina Drumstaite. She will be greeting you on arrival at The Crush at the MAC, and can answer any questions you have about the event or venue.

JUSTINA DRUMSTAITĖ

Justina Drumstaitė (25) is a freelance journalist from Belfast via Lithuania. She has a journalism degree from UU, Coleraine. Her interests include radio and tv production, blogging, social media, short stories, audio, people, culture, and the arts.
