The QUB student event team for WIM 2024

Hello all

We are very excited about the upcoming WIM 2024 event at QUB on Thursday, October 24th 9am - 3pm.

You can read all about it here: https://www.wimbelfast.com/voices/women-in-media-2024-at-queens-university-belfast

Do us a favour please and get your tickets now before the event is sold out. Plus it makes the catering team’s life and ours a whole lot easier.

It takes a lot of work to pull off an event like this so we have four Queen’s University Belfast students joining us on paid work experience on the day.

MEET THE TEAM

Name: Erin Bowman

QUB course: MA Media and Broadcast Production

“With a background in social media management, I worked as a communications intern for an international nonprofit, creating dynamic content and hosting a podcast. Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue capturing compelling stories that resonate with Gen Z. I am particularly passionate about podcasting but eager to explore all forms of media, both during my MA at Queens and afterward. I look forward to connecting with like-minded women at #WIM2024!”

Name: Shonagh Gill

QUB course: MA Media and Broadcast Production

Instagram: @shonaghgill_

“Hi! My name is Shonagh, I am a Masters student at Queens University Belfast and I am studying Media, Broadcasting & Production, my undergrad background is a joint major in English & Psychology. I have a passion for English literature however, a Masters in Media allows me to pursue my other interests in fashion, politics and popular culture in a way that enables me to be a contributor to the discourse of everyday life. What I lack in experience I make up for in ambition, I am interested in learning as much about every aspect of media, broadcasting, and journalism as possible and I hope in the future to be able to be a voice that people listen to and admire.”

Name: Mrudula Srivatsa

QUB course: MA Media and Broadcast Production

Instagram: @officialmrudula

“I am from India. I am a writer and general lover of stories and storytelling. My bachelor's degree is in English Literature but I also have a passion for theatre, video games and entertainment shows/films. I want to tell stories of optimism and adventure. And I wish to find stories unique to the medium in which they are told. I also have a love for food and cooking.”

Name: Abi Dynan

QUB course: MA Media and Broadcast Production

Instagram: @abidynan

“My name’s Abi and I have only just begun my masters in Media and Broadcast Production. I did my undergraduate degree at Newcastle University in Politics and International Relations and am excited to see how I can use that experience within my new course. I am really open minded in terms of future careers but would potentially love to work in presenting. Another area of work I am really interested in is TV/film production, although my only experience in this area is being an extra in different TV shows so there is a lot of learning to be done!”

So that is our Fab Four!

We will have opportunities for other students at future events so sign up to receive our newsletters.

We look forward to seeing everyone on October 24th, and thanks once again to our sponsors.
