WIMB IWD WHAT GIRLS WANT EVENT EMPOWERING A NEW GENERATION OF FEMINISTS

Our International Women’s Day event at Belfast City Hall was lots of fun and very empowering.

Women in Media Belfast and the Lord Mayor of Belfast Kate Nicholl were joined by young people from a variety of schools and councillors from across the political spectrum.

We had a lovely lunch, entertainment from singer Cori Conlon, workshops, and our speakers included human rights activist Sipho Sibanda and spokeswomen for Feminism in Schools, Glow NI, and Women’s Tec.

What a great start to the week of protest and celebration it was.

Thanks to Belfast City Council staff for looking after us so well, and to the Irish News and Belfast Telegraph from highlighting our event.

And our green and purple balloons got a second life at the Feminism in Schools inaugural conference later in the week. Feminists sharing!
